The mission for this geocoin is to travel to sea ports all over the world and have pictures posted of it visiting the sea port.
Please take very good care of our geocoin.
We bought this geocoin when doing the Shelburne County GeoTrail Adventure. We visited many sea ports in Nova Scotia while doing the series so decided to buy this coin to travel to other sea ports around the world.
In the days of fighting sail, a letter of marque was a government license authorizing a person (known as a privateer) to attack and capture enemy vessels and bring them before admiralty courts for condemnation and sale. Cruising for prizes with a letter of marque was considered an honorable calling combining patriotism and profit, in contrast to unlicensed piracy, which was universally reviled.
Liverpool Packet was a privateer schooner from Liverpool, Nova Scotia, that captured 50 American vessels in the War of 1812. During the war American privateers briefly captured Liverpool Packet, the British soon recaptured her and returned her to raiding American commerce. Liverpool Packet was the most successful privateer vessel ever to sail out of a Canadian port.
