Here we first needed to take control of the work problems. Plant was down for about 2 weeks when we arrived. One expert from Cape Town was called that specialize in HVAC equipment, one commissioning engineer from Gauteng was called, one team from Botswana was used, and two electrical contractors from Gauteng were also called. To control all I was involved, team from the Plant, my mechanical foreman and my boilermaker from Gauteng was also present. We got the plant running in 4 days. This was the first cache found in Botswana. I had to drop the expert from Cape Town at the airport, and then it was caching time. It was a nightmare to get a place to sleep. At the end we managed this.

  • Getting close to the border now. TB was placed in the window to keep an eye for any strange people and vehicles.
  • Lobatsi is now just in front. At the border the guards were fascinated by this TB. It took about 30 minutes to explain geocaching to about 8 officials and i think they enjoyed it.
  • The vehicle that took the TB around Here we stayed at Montheo. (Spelling could be wrong)
  • Kgali hill from the plant we tried to rescue. Cache was calling my name at this point. Soon very soon....
  • Africa is not for sissies. At work we got this. This panels was cleaned about 3 weeks ago. All panels looks like this and you have to be careful when you work with live equipment.
  • Photo is not clear - this is a very big wasp. I had to switch the HT equipment and I nearly placed my hand on top of this one. Biggest wasp I ever seen.
  • Tb checking the Rhino at the airport
  • TB at zebras
  • TB at elephant
  • TB and leopard
  • TB at airport animals

A quick stop for a cache in Rustenburg. I saw a blonde muggle at this location - could be the owner of the cache. TB was still happy at this location. The trick is that this is about 1/2 way to Gaborone.

After work we paid a visit to my cache to get the TB back at our location. I also checked on the cache, only one find on it indicates trouble. All is well.

Visited 2/7/2011 Louise_Gerhard took it to St Andrews Park Gauteng, South Africa - .81 miles  Visit Log

At this cache I achieved 1750 and I had this TB with me to enjoy it. At the previous cache I achieved FTF #165, average distance of 218.8 km, interval of 7.3 days with a find rate of 9.43%. Before July I need to have the 2000 finds mark. (DV) If not then that is also ok as long as I enjoyed it. Tomorrow we are off to Botswana and I hope for a good trip - we will leave at 03h00. Hopefully we will have the chance to find one before crossing the border. You are in for some travelling little fellow, hang on to your horse. G
