Die Puffbohne war schon im Mittelalter wichtigstes und beliebtestes Nahrungsmittel der Erfurter.Sie gedieh auf den fruchtbaren Böden und im milden Klima des Erfurter Beckens besonders gut. Die Erfurter verehrten ihre prächtige und nahrhafte Bohne so sehr, dass sie nur grüßend an einem Puffbohnenfeld vorübergingen und stets einige Bohnen bei sich trugen, um sie aus der Tasche zu essen. Diese innige Verbindung zur Puffbohne brachte den Erfurtern ihren Spitznamen "Erfurter Puffbohne" ein.Dieser TB zeigt die Originalversion.
The "puff bean" ... even in the Middle Ages had always been both a popular and important source of nourishment for the people of Erfurt.The "puff" or broad bean flourished in the fertile soil and mild climate of the Erfurt Basin.The Erfordians honoured this splendid,nutritious bean to such an extent that they used to salute every bean field they encountered.They would keep a few beans in their pockets for whenever they felt peckish.Their close relationship with this humble legume gave rise to its present nickname:the Erfurt "puff" bean. This TB shows the original version of it.
