Current Goal

To travel far and wide, reminding others of the price our servicemen have paid and continue to pay for our country. Sometime in the coin's journey I would love for it to visit the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial (The Wall) in Washington D.C.

About This Item

The coin's goal - 2

Don't keep this coin - it is not a trade item!

This is a copy of my POW/MIA geocoin that was lost or stolen. The original coin was sent out to travel, but was stolen (muggled) from a cache. It has been missing for over a year, so I made this copy coin to travel in its place. Hopefully, the replacement coin will last longer and travel more than the original did.

This coin is sent out in honor of our military servicemen and women. Please try to keep this coin moving.

My father served in Vietnam and came back a different person. It took him a couple of years to recover from his experiences there and return to his normal behavior. In all the years since then he's only talked about it to me once.

The owner of the drop zone that I skydive at and the pilot of the jump plane are both Vietnam veterans. The pilot, Travis Creel, still wears a metal POW/MIA band on his wrist with the name of a military serviceman that went missing in action. I remember when those bands were being sold. I was in high school at the time and the school allowed people to come into the classrooms to sell the bands to us. All the students were very solemn and respectful of the servicemen that had given so much for their country.

My grandfather-in-law was a Marine in World War II and fought at Iwo Jima where he was shot on two different occasions. The first time, he kept on fighting. Then, two days later, he was shot again several times and sent home. He lost a lung and has suffered many health problems from his injuries.

I would like as many cachers as possible to be able to see this coin and contemplate the tremendous sacrifices made by our military men and women.

Take pictures of the coin at military sites and memorials and post the pictures here if you can, please. If any servicemen find this coin, let's see pictures of you and your unit. Thanks!

Blue skies and happy caching!

Well, it's pretty tough to get a good picture of this shiny coin that really does it justice, but here's my attempt...
