December 21, 2012 marks the turning of a new chapter in the Mayan Calendar. This date is based off completion of what is known as the current “Great Cycle”. Common conversions to our modern time system show the end of this cycle to be at 11:11 Universal Time (UTC) on December 21, 2012. This date has been predicted by some to forecast the end of the world.
Celebrate being a part of this exciting historical moment with our Mayan Spinner Geocoin. This coin features a unique four way spinning action. The front side depicts the Mayan Calendar while the back side of the coin features the Haab and Tzolkinon calendars. The enite geocoin comes securely packaged in a special acrylic coin case.
The Haab calendar is a 365 day solar calendar, divided into segments of 18 months with 20 days each and one 5 day month. On the outer ring of this calendar on the coin there are 19 Mayan pictures, each one representing a month. The Tzolkinon calendar is known as the divine calendar, or Sacred Round “Tzolkin”. The translation means “the distribution of the days”. There are 260 days in this calendar. Twenty periods of 13 days mark special religious or ceremonial events.
These three calendars correspond to each other in a cyclical time fashion, and all three are used simultaneously.
