Current Goal

Hi, My name is Corky. I am a Resin wine cork from Northern Michigan. I originally came from Chateau Fontaine Winery and was happily purchased by a delightful couple. I would like to travel to as many wineries, tasting rooms and/or Vineyards as possible all over the world. If you pick me up and can only transport me in any direction to another cache that is fine also, as long as I keep moving. If you do happen to take me into or around wines & vines PLEASE take pictures of me with you, with grapes, wine, staff members, or tasting room signs, and post them.  One day, I would truly love to visit Napa Valley or even France in my travels. Even if you are just a mover in my destination I greatly appreciate it. :-) I am just starting out and have a long journey ahead of me.
Thanks,
Corky

It’s time to part ways. This cache is inside, behind locked doors, and staffed. You should be safe here, Corky, til another wino….traveller comes along.

We’ve had some lively wines together, experimenting with cool climate Canadian wines, then in to international wines aboard ship. It will soon be time to release your to the wild, but first a picnic in Ketchikan City Park.

Corky had some interesting Canadian wine with our Italian lunch today here in Vancouver. The Pinot noir offered hints of mint, sandalwood and dark Cherry. Definitely a cooler climate wine that could grow on me.

Wine came to the region along with the Catholic Church mission system. In our county, that means 1772. Figured Corky should take in some history after a day of tasting at Austin Hope Winery, lunch and wine at Niner, and a boutique wine experience at Willow Creek Wine Collective. This photo is at the memorial bell tower erected in the 1950s on the grounds of Mission San Miguel Arcángel which dates back nearly two centuries earlier.
