It's owner is an ancestor of numerous patriots who have fought in the Revolutionary War and a member of several groups dedicated to remembering and preserving our freedom and heritage. One of these groups is the Daughters of the American Revolution, Sarah Platt Decker Chapter, Durango, Colorado.
Post a photo of the TB in front of something patriotic, or anything having to do with our soldiers, or veterans, past or present. Some place suggestions are the Vietnam Memorial, president's gravesites, soldier's cemeteries, American flags flying, statues, American Legion Halls, V.F.W. members, and photos with currently serving soldier's.
PLEASE KEEP THIS TB IN THE UNITED STATES AND DROP OFF IN PREMIUM MEMBER'S CACHES ONLY.
Sarah Sophia Chase Platt-Decker was born in McIdoo Falls, VT in 1855, and came to Denver, CO in 1877.
She soon realized, after having lost her possessions after a husband's death, that women didn't have any rights. She became a life long suffragette, and was responsible for many positive changes to laws affecting women and their equal rights.
She was the 1st president of the Denver Women's Club and the 1st woman appointed to the Civil Service Commission of Colorado. She also became president of the national organization Federation of Associated Women's Clubs.
Sarah died in San Francisco, CA in 1912. In 1990, she was inducted into the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame.
Even though she suffered through the deaths of her three husbands, she always kept the motto "Never Frown, Never Sigh, Keep Step".
On July 11, 1917, the Sarah Platt Decker Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution - Durango, Colorado was named in her honor, and adopted her motto as theirs. The TB was named in her honor.
