NZ Flag Earthquake Fundraiser Geocoin visited the cache Bannister Hall
Bannister Hall was originally built in 1936 and has been the site of many a dance, ball, reception and fund raising event in the almost 80 years since. It has recently been renovated from funds donated by the Gullen Range Wind Farm. A nice location for an old hall.

NZ Flag Earthquake Fundraiser Geocoin visited the cache Gurrundah Public School
Schooling in the Gurrundah area had a bit of chequered history with the rise and fall of school aged children. The school was previously located elsewhere in Gurrundah but closed due to insufficient facilities and low attendance. Research suggests that the school at this location opened at the beginning of the 1939 school year. The Department of Instruction supported the opening of the school as they had been assured that there were 15 "juveniles" in the area that would attend. A condition of allocating a teacher to the school was that an average minimum of 9 students had to attend.
This place doesn’t look like a school but a building of some sort. I went up to the gate to see if I could see the building behind all the pine trees better and what did I find, a poor cow that had vomited and died. From the looks of things it hadn’t been all that long, poor thing.

NZ Flag Earthquake Fundraiser Geocoin visited the cache Tennis at Bannister
There were many reports of weekly social tennis competitions in this area. They were especially popular from 1934 when the inaugural Cotta Walla Challenge Cup was played. Eligible teams were those within a 12 mile radius from Crookwell. Teams from Cotta Walla, Brooklands, Kialla, Bannister, Roslyn, Woodhouselee and many others would regularly compete. Fund raising balls for the local club were held in Bannister Hall.
Didn’t happen to see the tennis courts today.

NZ Flag Earthquake Fundraiser Geocoin visited the cache the other end of Bannister
Finally got back out this end of the back blocks to find this cache. There is a National Trail place-marker here which the CO thinks pre-dates the Bicentennial Trail. I haven't noticed these before but they are probably dotted all over the place.

The National Trail was originally conceived as a route for the long distance horse trekker but is now enjoyed by cyclists and hikers.
The Bicentennial National Trail is Australia’s premier long distance, multi-use recreational trekking route, stretching an extraordinary 5,330 kilometres from Cooktown in tropical far north Queensland to Healesville in Victoria.
Variously known as ‘the BNT’, the National Trail or simply ‘the Trail’, the Bicentennial National Trail follows the foothills of the Great Dividing Range and the eastern escarpment offering self-reliant distance trekkers for a uniquely Australian adventure.
The Trail is divided into 12 sections each with its own detailed Guidebook.

On Sunday, March 4, his Lordship Dr. Gallagher, will bless and dedicate to the Sacred Heart, the new Catholic Church at Gurrundah. Rev. Father Linus, C.P., will preach the occasional sermon. In the afternoon the new Stations of the Cross will be canonically erected, after which a special sermon and Benediction will be given. The residents of Gurrunduh have made arrangements to entertain all visitors on that occasion.

NZ Flag Earthquake Fundraiser Geocoin visited the cache Cullerin Sign
South of Goulburn this cache is at the northern entrance to the Cullerin Range. This section of old Hume Highway in its day was a notorious section of road. Many vehicle crashes occurred along here, claiming several lives. Cullerin Range Deviation, a 34 km-long freeway-grade deviation to the east of this section, was officially opened on 5 April 1993 at a cost of $132m. The final duplication, Cullerin to Yass, was completed in May 1995.

The St Silas Anglican Church used to also be here. Trees were planted too close to the church and over time the tree roots undermined the foundations of the church. A decade or so after WW1, the church was demolished.
