Grabbed this little traveler from GenJen82. The first stop is in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, the oldest town in the state and the home of the oldest cemetery, Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
A bit of history is that the cemtery is part of the Fort Gibson outpost during the Civil War and the final resting place for Union & Confederate soldiers (many of them unknown), American Indians, and veterans from all eras since then. It has been said the FGNC is more picturesque than the famous Arlington National Cemetery.
Next stop will be a little further south - just past Greenleaf State Park. The Greenleaf has been voted several years in a row as the most beautiful State Park in Oklahoma.
For those not familiar with Eastern Oklahoma, the terrain here is very similar to what you would see between Olympia & Longview, Washington.
