KIWI
The kiwi is a flightless bird endemic to New Zealand, it is also used as the national symbol of New Zealand. Although flightless, the kiwi has very small wings, they have long beaks with nostrils at the tip for sniffing out food (caches). They are semi nocturnal, (hence - the early bird gets the cache). Their feathers are coarse and shaggy and have special patterns and colors to help them camouflage on the ground.
PAUA SHELL
Paua is a species of abalone, It is only found in the sea around New Zealand. The Paua Shell is the most colorful of all the abalone shells. Colors vary from greens & pinks to purples & blues and even some shells have gold or crimson toning. The color in the paua shell changes when viewed at different angles. Each shell is different and unique in it's color toning, and in the patterns within the shell.
KORU (patterned border)
The Koru is an integral symbol in Maori art, meaning loop, it is a spiral shape based on the shape of a new unfurling silver fern frond (native to NZ) and symbolizes new life, growth, strength and peace.
YuGeo4
Interpreted as "Why You Geo For?" Name derived from the Japanese Manga cartoon character Yu-Gi-Oh, hence the drawing - the spiky hair represents another native plant of New Zealand - the Flax or Harakeke, while the eyes again represent the koru.
