Diese Coin ist nur als Kopie auf Reisen. Das Original sitzt beim Owner zuhause und lässt sich von Zeit zu Zeit auf Events discovern.

Die Kopie möchte gern nach Ägypten, woher die Idee für diese Coin kommt. Bastet ist die in der ägyptischen Mythologie als Katzengöttin dargestellte Tochter des Sonnengottes Re. Ein Foto mit der Coin vor einer Pyramide wäre der Oberhammer!

Aber auch sonst kommt sie gern rum, Katzen gibts ja eigentlich überall, und freut sich über schöne Fotos.

From the artist Jackalgirl: The inspiration for this coin comes from the glorious Middle- and New Kingdoms of Ancient Egypt. Lotus buds and flowers (Nymphaea caerulea), symbols of creation & rebirth, are used to create a compass rose around the central disk of the sun. The directions are represented in four forms of text: hieroglyphs, Gardnerian transliteration, English, and an approximation of how the word might be pronounced (based on the study of both Middle Egyptian and its still-extant descendant, Coptic). South is at the top, as it was represented in Egyptian art (and, in fact, the Egyptian word for "south" also means "up").

On the reverse, the classic representation of Aten (the sun disk, represented in the way made very famous by the artisans of the Amarna period) is, of course, geocaching, as any self-respecting sun deity with eons of time on its many, many hands would probably be doing. Aten has found an ammo can and is signing the log and -- what's that? A bug is escaping!

This coin was initially released in five versions:

Aten - classic Egyptian colors with gold plating

Set - copper plating done up primarily in shades of red, Set's color

Osiris - greens and blacks, representing the lush growth of life in the rich soil of the Nile Valley, on gold.

Nepthys - silver plating with blues and purples

Anubis - the Artist Edition, in satin gold with enamel wash in black and highlights in blues and greens.

Bast - A sixth version released at the GeocoinFest 2010 event.  It was created using an “Enamel Wash” process to help show the great detailing of the coin and not to cover the shiny gold finish.  It features Glitter and Yellow enamel with an awesome looking Cat’s Eye in the middle.
