About This Item

When I first discovered geocaching, back in March, 2001, I wondered how I could keep track of this new obsession of mine. Then I discovered how easy it would be to create a personal travel bug and this is the result. A Walk with Webfoot was created to follow the path that I take as I journey mostly around the state of California with a couple of sojourns outside the state, while geocaching along the way.

I also have a blog entitled Webfoot Wanderings, which is where I get to run off the mouth about a variety of things that I like to do, mostly photography, but occasionally I'll write about geocaching and other GPS games as well. Feel free to participate in any kind of dialog you want there. As one of my friends in his own blog states, "I don't bite."

You could look at this as my on-line blog of my successful geocaching experiences. I'll place this in caches of my own when I go out on maintenence runs as well. Hey, if I find my own, that's a success, isn't it?

After striking out yesterday on this one, I decided to enlist the help of Larry the Pool Guy who'd struck out the day before on this one. We had gotten a fairly good nudge from the CO, so I called Larry up and we drove over here together to see if we could make heads or tails of this one.

Coordinates had me about 16 feet off, but that's pretty good especially with the tree cover. We started searching and I had an idea, so I stepped around Larry and soon we had the cache. Just missed it yesterday.

We signed in on the top line at 1:45 this afternoon. There's some condensation on the outside of the container already, probably due to the rain we got yesterday, so that's probably nothing to worry about and it's good that you have the log sheet in a plastic baggie.

Here's a favorite point for your first hide. Now you should go out and find some for yourself.

After logging my caches from my run this morning, I checked my emails and noticed this new on, just over there, basically within walking distance of my house. Not as close as 4hmoore, but fairly close. I decided to drive over since I had another agenda with Larry the Pool Guy afterwards.

As I pulled up to waypoint one, I saw the CO walking the new puppers in the park. I got the needed information and got Homer's approval and then I decided to walk over to the final. I found the nicely camouflaged cache right where it was supposed to be, signed in under 4hmoore's signature and then returned as found.

Then I walked over and had a nice conversation with the CO and Daisy, who decided that it wasn't geocaching yet for me, so she decided to jump up on me. Yeah, it's geocaching now. One of the more interesting ways that I've bled while out geocaching, that's for sure.

Wandering around in the Redlands area today picking up a few caches this morning. I'd already found two and there was this one close by so I headed over here next. I parked in that little side lot that I've used many times in the past for other caches hidden here and just walked my way through the park over to ground zero. Only one of two places it could be based upon the hint and I guessed right the first time and was soon signing in.

This one gave me my second treasure of the day, one from the navigational tier for finding a traditional with a 2 D and 1.5 T or lower. Not sure whey the first one I found today didn't work, but that's for another discussion.

After getting a close by FTF to keep my monthly streak alive, I looked around on the map for other unfound caches. This was the closest to me, so I worked my way over here. Had some fun getting off of Bryn Mawr onto this road, but eventually figured it out.

I parked across the street from the pickle ball courts, then walked across the field. I spotted the replacement cache from about 20 feet away and fortunately, I was just tall enough to make the grab. Signed in, then replaced as found.

This cache also got me my first "treasure" in the April round. I had to find some kind of traditional, not sure the ratings, but this one definitely qualifies.

I noticed this one post a couple of nights ago, but couldn't get out here until this morning. I was actually very surprised that biatchn hadn't also gotten the FTF for this one since she was close by when she got another FTF yesterday, but that's neither here nor there at this point in time.

I park across the street from the park in the neighborhood and then strolled over using my phone. I was a little confused at the time since I'd just run my regular PQs and I figured this one would be in the GPSr, but it wasn't. Then it dawned on me that I was actually right on the edge of the PQ, which was why it wasn't showing up.

Anyway, I walked over, circled around once and spotted something that just had to be the cache. Yep it was! I opened it up, looked at the log sheet up and down and didn't spy any signatures on it, so I signed in on the FTF line at 10:30 this morning. There's my April FTF, so I can relax for another month before I can worry about my monthly streak again. Yeah, I know, it's something that keeps me occupied.
