Dropped this little traveller at a hidden gem of Simcoe County's history. It should be safe from muggles here. Hopefully it will be moved along quickly. We chose a winter friendly cache, just in case the snow blows before the next visitor arrives. Thanks for travelling with us!

Historic St Thomas Shanty Bay Church was built of rammed earth or pisé de terre or simply pisé between and 1841 by local craftsmen. The axe marks on the hand hewn wooden forms used for the rammed earth are still visible.[1] Its steep pitched roof, lancet windows and entrance tower are typical of Gothic Revival churches. It was consecrated on February 27, 1842, and is still an active Anglican church. (edited from wikipedia)

Visited 8/6/2012 Be-Strong-Carry-On! took it to HMCS HAIDA Battle Ship Historical Site - NEW SPOT Ontario, Canada - 80.57 miles  Visit Log

An afternoon visit to Parks Canada Historic site HMSC Haida in Hamilton.
HMCS HAIDA National Historic Site and historic naval ship is the last remaining example of the 27 Tribal Class destroyers built for the Royal Canadian Navy, the Royal Navy and the Royal Australian Navy between 1937 and 1945.
Not only is the ship historically significant, but she is a cultural asset representing a life style, however transient, of more than a generation of Canadians who served in Canada's Navy between 1943 and 1963. The thousands of men who sailed in Haida represented a total cross section of Canadian society during that period.

Major General Sir Samuel Benfield Steele, CB, KCMG, MVO (5 January 1848 – 30 January 1919) was a distinguished Canadian soldier and police official. He was an officer of the North-West Mounted Police, most famously as head of the Yukon detachment during the Klondike Gold Rush, and commanding officer of Strathcona's Horse during the Boer War.
