We found the coin in a cache in Oberlin, Ohio. A great college town in northern Ohio (www.oberlin.edu). The coin is now in safe keeping in Columbia Station, Ohio. We'll hold unto it until it can travel south.

Hi Schmo! The name Wyoming comes from the Delaware Indian word, meaning "mountains and valleys alternating". Outdoor activities abound, including hiking, camping, fishing, and some of the best skiing in the world at Jackson Hole. I visited both Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons as a kid and will go back some day. Will move the coin further West this fall when we travel to Ohio.

Lots of fun on this find. The kids loved that a 4 year old hide it! We will have to look up some facts before moving it along.

I had a gym teacher who was from Wyoming. Had the licence plate on his car for as long as I can remember...a few facts...Cheyenne is the state capitol, it is called the "cowboy state", national ranking-3rd most livable state in 2007, state animal is the bison, state gemstone is jade, 1st national park is Yellowstone. Interesting...their state dinosaur is the triceratops. Now that I told you a little something about Wyoming, I will take it west with me in a few weeks(ok-more like western pa but still west!) At least it will be a little closer to Wyoming!
