Picked up this bug in a cache today and noticed the interesting Egyptian objects attached. This is an Ankh, also known as the key of life, or key of the Nile. It represented "life" in Egyptian hieroglyphics although the origin of the symbol is debated. The Copts retained this symbol in their representation of the Christian cross.
I have had the good fortune to visit Egypt twice, but since my last trip some years ago even more discoveries have been made by archeologists -- would love to return for a visit to see some of that!
Thanks for the interesting traveler -- I will move it along soon!
