Current Goal

Where-O-Where has my little dog gone... Geo-Spot is exploring the countryside with an ever faithful companion tagging along. He isn't fussy about where he visits but he prefers caches near trees or fire hydrants.

About This Item

GeoSpot & Friend

A geocoin tag. Hopefully Geo-Spot can visit lots of caches before a dog catcher puts him in the Pound!

Sorry to have to list Geo-Spot as missing. The last cache he was placed in had a lot of DNF's. Thanks everyone who helped him move along. I enjoyed reading about his adventures. Happy Caching.

I really enjoyed finding this one even though my GPS batteries had gone dead and I had to use my cell phone. If you’ve never used it you don't know how awful the GPS navigator is at times. I don’t have a fancy phone so I’m trying to look on this tiny screen. For some reason it doesn’t update where you are as you move about ½ the time. I would take 10-20 steps and it would tell me I was 3’ closer. As I approached the end of the lake I finally decided that the reason for that was that it was along the back side of the lake so I hurried and walked to where I thought I should be getting close only to have the darn thing suddenly tell me it was over 400’ in the other direction. Grrr. I walked back to where I was last and sure enough after pausing for a minute it was now pointing in exactly the opposite direction it had been (while standing in the same spot) 2 minutes ago and back toward the car. I was growling at the thing and so was Geo-Spot who was having a hard time with the long ride. The hedgehog was sleeping in his cage and the plane that was also traveling with me seemed content to just hang out. I decided to forget the phone and look in the most likely locations. My husband and son were waiting at the other end of the lake for some reason and I was feeling pressed to hurry. I looked at the phone again and it was showing 98’ to the cache. About that time I spotted it a few feet away. Did I mention that I hate to search with the phone? The app is great for finding caches near you if you are not traveling too fast, but it sucks for honing in on them most of the time. I opened the box hoping to find a traveler to trade for but alas it was empty. Geo-spot jumped right in and snuggled down for a nap and his faithful follower tick had no choice but to stay with him because I know that you let sleeping dogs lie. Besides it was a nice spot and I was planning to leave at least one of the travelers anyway. The hedgehog’s cage was too big and the plane soared off to take a look at the lake so I brought them on with me. This was a great break from our 3 hard days of traveling. I wish I’d had more time to cache and that I’d found a few more as peaceful as this one.
Thank you ~ Wolfsladay

I'm sorry that it took so long for me to get Geo-Spot moved. I have a few pictures of him hanging out at my dad's 75th birthday party (he almost got into the cake before we'd even lit the candles.) and doing the whole Christmas thing. That mess of my brothers I got roped into took my entire trip to sort out. I ended up having to empty, clean and remodel his house since he left the country on some secret job. At least that's what he told everyone I'm not so sure he didn't run off with some girl and join a cult. I ran myself into the ground and just as I finished the job just in time for the renters to move in I started getting sick. We had to delay going home because everyone got a cold. Mine of course turned into bronchitis and ruined the rest of my trip. (cough – cough) Can’t get rid of the darn stuff. I took so many pictures at Christmas that I haven’t had time to weed thru them yet. I haven’t even cropped a single one of my 3 year old let alone getting anything printed. I know it’s sad. I hope to get to the pictures after I finish unpacking. But in the mean time I wanted to assure you that Geo-Spot wasn’t just left to linger in some dark pocket in my geobag. He had fun dang it. A whole lot more than I did. My mom has a pool, a horse, a llama, 2 sheep and countless chickens so he was busy chasing and swimming and hanging out with my son who adored him. I hope that makes up for him not getting much action in the geo world. Thank you for sharing him. We really got a laugh out of him and his little tag along.

Aw golfhound, I e-mailed you a week or so ago before I was here visiting in FLA. I regret to inform you this TB somehow wasn't here when we visited today. I'm so bummed and hope it shows up soon!
