My objective is the go from cache to cache and visit surfing meccas worldwide, and enlighten people of the surfing mecca in the Midwest.
Sheboygan Wisconsin is known for two things: bratwurst and surfing. Surfing???
Sheboygan, also known as the “Malibu of the Midwest,” boasts 22 different breaks on its five-mile coastline and is considered one of the best spots for freshwater surfing in the world. Sheboygan is home to the annual Dairyland Surf Classic, the largest lake surfing competition in the world, founded by Lee “Waterflea” Williams and his twin brother, Larry “Longboard” Williams. It is held each Labor Day weekend since 1988.
In the 2007 movie "Surf’s Up", the character Chicken Joe was a surfer from Sheboygan, and is apparently a reference to one or both of the Williams brothers.
