Current Goal

Bridger's mission is to visit as many bridges as possible while touring the world and to collect images and coordinates of his favorites for a student-run GIS website project.

About This Item

Take Bridger to see a bridge or two when you're travelling about. When you find one he likes (he's partial to bridges of exotic, historical, or architectural coolness), jot down the coordinates and snap a picture of the bridge. Then upload the coords and image to this site and send him on his way to another adventure!

Once his GIS website is up, we'll post a link to it and you can check out all of the sites Bridger's been to.

Just a flying visit to the Bank Street Bridge, Bridger would never fit into the micro container!

This bridge was originaly built in 1912, but was extensively renovated in 1993, including widening the road surface. The rebuild also brought the bridge back to its original architectural character, attempting to recreate the original appearance. It crosses the Queen Elizabeth Drive, the Rideau Canal and Colonel By Drive with six arches. Cheers,

OK, once again just a courtesy visit in a bridge themed cache, since it's a micro-cache. So out once more and down the Rideau Canal, traveling south southwest, for more Ottawa Bridges. Cheers,

Dropped Off 1/16/2005 bluelamb03 placed it in Ottawa's Bridges - Laurier Ontario, Canada - .82 miles  Visit Log

The Laurier Bridge was orignally constructed in 1900 and spanned the Rideau Canal with four iron arches. In the reconstruction of 2001-2003 a further two arches were added to widen the road bed. The cache is at the southeastern end of the bridge. Cheers,

Bridger is much too large for 'Pretoria Bridge' cache of course, it was just a flying visit! On to a new bridge!

I've taken Bridger to visit one of my caches on Ottawa's Pretoria Bridge, a vertical lift bridge over the Rideau Canal. Built in 1917 it has no overhead towers for the lift mechanism. Cheers,

    • Bridger on the bridge rail.
    • On the ice below the span. Watch out for skaters!

Bridges?! Ottawa has some grand old bridges! I'll take this little fella home for a tour of "Ottawa's Bridges" on which there are several geocaches! Cheers,

Bridger checked out the historic Lyndhurst Bridge today, the oldest stone bridge in Ontario. He was quite impressed. Have not found a large enough cache for Bridger yet but hope to place him within the next two weeks. Bridgers travel container is now properly labeled so others can quickly identify him. Some more info can be found here http://www.ruralleeds.on.ca/villages/lyndhurst/

Bridger is enjoying his stay in Ontario and is going to visit a few more bridges before moving on. While in Kingston today, Bridger got all excited when he saw a very unique and historic bridge. This is a "Bailey Bridge", or to be more precise, this example is a "Double Single-Span". It provided the Allied Forces of WWII with mobility during the war effort. The display also includes a Sherman tank, proving the bridge is very strong.
