Susquehanna

Moving from geocache to geocache until she returns to her birthplace,Huntingdon, Pa.

As the orange sun fell behind the Mule Mountains, Susquehanna, a white leghorn chicken felt a sudden cool breeze. Instinctively, her soft, angora-like feathers tightly held her four perfect eggs. While napping that evening, thoughts of traveling east to Huntingdon, her birthplace fluttered into her mind. An adventure during this waiting time would be fun and entertaining. As she gazed at the grey scales of the steep cliffs across the canyon and the Switzerland-look of her hometown of Bisbee, Arizona, she raised her head and gave a confirmatory cluck. While stretching her legs, her eyes peered into the distant view of the exotic country of Mexico and further down the canyon to view this unique mining camp that had become part of her heart. But fierce memories of her Grandmother, Margaret and the photos and stories of Pennsylvania created a longing in her soul. With colors of copper, reds and browns contrasted under an azure blue sky, this mining camp had a vivid history of Geronimo, Cochise and Pancho Villa transcending thru a colorful, Wild West aura. Skillful mining men had created a prosperous mining camp with a stage stop and entrepenuers arrived on a daily basis. This would enable her journey of a heritage tour to the home of her family. Green hills, creeks and lakes surrounded by wildflowers would be an unforgetable birthplace for her chicks. Clucking a bedtime song to her precious eggs, her thoughts begin to prepare for a journey. She will need a soft, protective nest to assist her against damaging mugglers along the way. Thru valleys and hills, she must pass, crossing streams and rivers, hot deserts and fields. This will be an unforgettable adventure for a delicate hen and her four precious darlings. Each geocache must give her tender loving care.
