Earth Turtle 2008 - blue

Designed by Tsunrisebey (Stepahnie Witham).

Originally 500 coins were minted in 2008: 125 antique silver-green, 125 antique silver-purple, 150 polished gold-multi color, 100 polished nickel-red-black-white.

A remint was necessary in the same year. 1100 trackable and 100 non-trackable new coins were added in various colors. Final numbers, first and second edition together: 413 antique silver-green, 349 antique silver-blue, 313 gold-blue, 150 polished gold-green-red, 150 polished gold-multi color, 125 antique silver-purple,  100 polished nickel-red-black-white, and 100 non-trackable copper with brown colors to Geowoodstock 6. There won't be any more remints.

The writing on the stomach of the turtle says "children" in 11 languages: Wakanheja - Lakota/Sioux, Keiki - Hawaiian, Kinderen - Dutch, Ninos - Spanish, Kodomo - Japanese, Kinder - German, Deti - Russian, Dzieci - Polish, Children - English, Wiens - Scottish, Enfants - French. "We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children" is a Native American proverb.

 

I bought my coin from LionsLiar in December 2013. He originally activated it on July 24, 2008. It had no kms in it, just 14 discoveries, that I archived when I adopted the coin, as I do not know most of those geocachers and have not been to those events. It is funny that I did meet 3 geocachers (Rangergirl141, JunglePete, Team Crime Scene) out of that original 14.
