Current Goal

The girls of Girl Scout Troop 1047 made this and three sister travel bugs. They would like to see them travel far and fast! Please help them continue to learn about geocaching as well as new and interesting places by moving this TB along. In order to keep the TB moving please avoid placing in difficult puzzle caches and TB hotels. The four TB's would like to re-unite in Westlake, Ohio in a couple of years.

About This Item

Girl Scout Troop 1047 Try-It TB 1

The girls of Troop 1047 created four travel bugs and a geocache as part of earning the Geocaching "Try-It" badge. Try-Its are designed to introduce girls to new activities and let them try it out - proficiency is not required or expected. In order to earn their badge, they also had to do the following:
* Learn what GPS stands for and how/why they are used;
* Learn the difference between latitude and longitude;
* Learn what geocaching is about and why it is so fun;
* Visit geocaching.com and see how many caches are near where the troop meets; and
* Find a cache.

Each girl created her own strand of beads to add to one of the four TB's. Please feel free to add you own small strand of beads or other small hitchhiker. To open the hook, gently slide the plastic tube down, open the hook, and then be sure to slide the tube back up to keep the hook from accidentally opening.

Throughout the year, the girls will be checking up on their TB's to see where they have traveled. Please be sure to included interesting facts in your TB log and LOTS of photos. If you are a current or former Girl Scout, please post your troop number in your log entry.

Not sure why it isn't logged into the cache I took it from, but I have it now. I wasn't going to take any Travel Bugs today until I saw that it was a Girl Scout TB. I launched my Girl Guide TB in Florida so I had a little flash back. Baden Powell'd be proud.

I retrieved the TB from the Uno de Dalongz cache in Redmond. I'm going to bring it on a Snowboard trip to Whistler Blackcomb. I imagine it'll jump to far off land from there...

Before bringing the Girl Scout TB to Redmond, WA (and visiting Microsoft world headquarters), I took it on a hike near my home. The enclosed pictures show the TB enjoying Dinosaur Ridge near Morrison, CO, named for the many dinosaur fossils found on its hillsides.

  • GS TB at Dinosaur Ridge The TB is on the sign, with Dinosaur Ridge in the background.
  • GS TB on Dionosaur Ridge Along the trail to the top, we stopped to look for a cache.
  • TB atop Dinosaur Ridge From the top you can see Mt. Morrison and the world famous Red Rocks Amphitheater.
