Current Goal

Remmy's mission is to meet and greet as many fellow geocachers as possible. Remmy is our decoy when we go geocaching -- if muggles come near we can always act like we're just out walking the dog when we have her along. :-)

About This Item

Remmy the TB dog

Remmy is a Shiba Inu/terrier mix, spade female we adopted from the Cedar Bend Humane Society in Waterloo, IA on 4/1/2008. At the time of adoption she was between 1 and 2 years old. She is a perfect fit for our family and was exactly the dog we were waiting for! She's lively, full of mischief, and loves to be loved. If you happen to meet her along your geocaching trails, but sure to ask to see her travel bug tag!

*** Update March 2, 2013 ***

It is with a broken heart that I must report that Remmy died two days ago. I've copied below what I wrote on my Facebook page that night.

"Remmy, lovely little funny dog. We rescued you from the humane shelter and you paid us back a thousand fold. You brought joy and laughter, comfort and love. How can I sleep without you under the covers at my feet tonight? Your zest for life (and cheese!) was contagious. The click click click of your toenails on the wood floor when you came to greet me at the door every night and your shiny black body with its funny stubby tail that burst with joy in your greeting. We love you, dear one. There will never be another like you."

And Rob's post...

"How do you console your family, or yourself for that matter, when the little dog that spent most evenings curled up in your lap, or stretched across your lap mile after mile after mile on a cross country journey, or threw her self to the floor when you said down from a sit just to get that piece of cheese you're tempting her with. So you all know yes... I am sitting here with uncontrollable tears streaming down my face. RIP little one, you will be sorely missed around here for quite some time."
