About This Item

To celebrate our wedding anniversary we are releasing 4 Geocoins, one for each member of the family, on a race.

We would like them to visit as many of the following places (or as close as possible) where we as a family have enjoyed a holiday, and when the coins arrive we would love to see photos of the coins in the location.

The places are:

  1. Zermatt in Switzerland - our most favourite place in the world!
  2. Calais
  3. in France - not just a stop off, take some time to explore the town.
  4. Saliers
  5. in Provence, France - we have family here, and we enjoy visiting the white horses and flamingos.
  6. Villard-de-Lans
  7.   in the Rhone Alps, France - cut off from the world in these mountains, the roads around here are breathtaking.
  8. Dumfries and Galloway
  9. in Scotland - a beautiful area we just keeping returning to, and our favourite pub at Port Logan.
  10. Braemar
  11. in the Grampian Mountains in Scotland - well worth the drive to this remote area and watch out for the red deer.
  12. Brora
  13. in the Highlands of Scotland - one of the best beaches we have been to.
  14. Orkneys
  15. in Scotland - a place so small, but with so much atmosphere.
  16. Falkirk
  17. in Scotland - finally another in Scotland, but everyone should visit the engineering genius of the Falkirk Wheel. Who says that we cannot build beautiful and practical machines.
  18. Edinburgh
  19. in Scotland - we love the Royal Botanical Gardens here.
  20. Portmeirion
  21. in North Wales - we keep returning to this visually amazing village.
  22. Cardiff
  23. in Wales - you must visit Cardiff Bay and stand in front of the Millennium Centre and look at the waterfall.
  24. London
  25. in England - so many places we love here; the London Eye, Science Museum, Tate Gallery, walking along the side of the Thames and Kew Gardens.
  26. Rutland Water
  27. in England - have recently cycled round this, what a great day.
  28. Richmond
  29. in England - with an amazing castle with a great legend: Nearly 200 years ago some soldiers found an entrance to a tunnel near the castle keep. They could not fit into the tunnel so they elected to send a regimental drummer boy. The boy was asked to walk along the tunnel and beat his drum so that above ground the soldiers could follow the noise. They did this for 3 miles before the sound stopped unexpectedly. This was never explained and today a stone marks the spot the noise stopped. More confusingly the entrance can also not be found. Today schools celebrate this local legend with children marching through town annually. Legend claims that on some cold nights you can hear the faint sound of the drummer boy still.
  30. Moreton-in-Marsh
  31. in Gloucestershire, England - a beautiful village with a great street market.
  32. York
  33. in England - probably our favourite city we never tire of walking the wall here and visiting the National Train Museum.
  34. Brighton
  35. in England - what a great beach, but it is a shame about the old pier.
  36. Chatsworth
  37. in Derbyshire, England - everyone should visit Chatsworth House at least once, especially the gardens.
  38. Houghton Mill
  39. in England - wildlife in abundance.

  • We will cross out the places above as they are visited. We haven't set a time limit, but will allow a few years before asking for them to head home to Nottingham.

Good luck on the journey ahead! Happy Caching!
