I.C.E. Swallowtail has traveled to South Africa to attend the XIII International Congress of Entomology in Durban. He would like to travel about the world for a while, then return to the USA and find a cache near a future meeting of the Entomological Society Of America.,Nov.2013, Austin Texas, Nov. 2014 Portland, Oregon, Nov. 2015 Minneapolis, MInnesota . And of course he would love to go to the next International Congress of Entomology in Orlando, Florida, 2016
Every four years entomologists from all over the world gather for an International Congress to present research reports and celebrate the wonderful world of insects. This seems an appropriate venue for Travel Bugs to start their adventures.
At the 2004 I.C.E. I released two bugs, ICE Mantid TBE35F, and ICE Beetle TBF4A5. They both traveled extensively for three years. They got stalledin 2007 but ICE Mantid eventually was rescued from a lost archived cache. A forest fire caught up with ICE Beetle and only his tag survived. The Mantid and the Beetle's tag are now home in Nebraska and have earned retirement. I.C.E. Swallowtail and his friend I.C.E. Ladybug are eager to take up the challenge and try to top their predecessors mileage before the 2012 Congress.
I.C.E. Swallowtail is an adventurous Butterfly ready to fly most anywhere. Please take care of him and keep him moving. Good luck, little butterfly. I hope to see you at an ESA meeting in the USA sometime.
