Just part of taking it on it's olympic tour

  • 1988 Olympic torch and Olympic Oval At the University of Calgary where speed skating was hosted.
  • Olympic torch at the University of Calgary One of the Olympic torches for the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics at the University of Calgary, site of the speed skating events.
  • Olympic Oval This picture show 1/2 of the Olympic Oval at the University of Calgary. To give an idea of it's size the ice in the centre is a full sized hockey rink. It was the site of the 1988 Olympic Speed skating events and was the first time that the long track speed skating was held indoors.
  • Olympic flame relay runner torch A 1988 Olympic flame relay runner torch. Modeled to look like the Calgary Tower.
  • Calgary Tower Was originally built in 1968. In 1988 a natural-gas fired cauldron was installed on top and was lit for the entire 1988 Calgary Olympic Winter games. It is still lit for special events.
  • Pengrowth (Olympic) Saddledome Was used for the hockey and figure skating events for the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. Is the home of the Calgary Flames Hockey team.
