Hello All:
Well, this was a very interesting find. There were four of us. Four mature adult males, wondering through the woods. Mike is 47, Dave is 48, Kevin is 54 and Russ is 65. Brings a new meaning to wondering through the woods with suits and ties on with fancy shoes ready to make a technical sales presentation to the Great State of NH. The cache location was beautiful. The smell of evergreen trees was everywhere.
Starting at the beginning. We went to NH to conduct business. We are in the breath alcohol testing industry and the state of NH was releasing a Request For Proposal and called a vendor meeting. So we took off from Des Moines, Iowa on Tuesday (2/15/05) and returned today, Wed (02/16/05). With a special travel bug. We are huge Geocachers here in the midwest and we try to find at least one in each state we visit. IA, IL, AZ, NV, CA, are amoung the many already on our list. We had never been to NH before. We found this one in the state capital and it was an absolute wonderful walk. I do wish that it was a little closer to summer as it was pretty cold and windy. But we weren't really dressed for an outdoor walk either. The good news is the "newby" of the group, Russ, was the one that spotted the cache first. And then we found the travel bug in the cache. Well, we put some miles on the old snowmobile. It is now in Des Moines, Iowa, where it is cold and there are some areas with snow. But we got great digital pictures of the snowmobile in the airport at Manchester and he met some great people that held him in front of the sign announcing the plane going to Cincinnati. And then on to Des Moines, Iowa. The GPS said that it was a total distance of 1115 miles. But these maps will calculate it differently. But the snowmobile will be placed in a new cache tomorrow. It is called "Madison County Dash For The Cache". It can be found 14 miles south of Zip Code 50061... I think it is the 5th page back. Right in there. The reason I selected this cache location is that it is located within two miles west of Interstate 35 that runs N/S through the country. It will get picked up lickity-split there.
Thank you owners of this travel bug. It was fun to visit your part of the country and enjoy our favorite sport. I hope you achieve the goals you have set for this travel bug. Maybe it will head back out to the east coast someday. Your effort made for a really fun find for 4 old men from Iowa. Who of "thunk" it.
