In memory of our friend and a great musian Mic Gillette. We met Mic back in 1997 at a show he was doing with the Sons of Champlin in Seattle, WA. We became friends and it was our many trips down to the Bay Area for shows he was preforming in that lead to us becoming interested in Geocaching in 2009. Seeing the secret places cachers hid their treasures along the way made trips even more fun and gave us the chance to see those little off the main drag spots only locals knew about. Mic passed in Jan. 2016.
Mic is best known for more than 40 years of stellar horn work with Tower of Power, Cold Blood, and the Sons of Champlin. He has also performed on countless albums and CDs for some of the biggest names in the music business — Santana, The Rolling Stones, Sheryl Crow, Doobie Brothers, Quincy Jones, Rod Stewart, Elton John, Jefferson Starship, Huey Lewis and the News to name about a few. I recall him telling us about his most "famous" yet unknown play was when he recored the horn riff from the James Bond theme for a video game.
He had a well established reputation for his work with youth and school bands and had an affinity for working for working with middle school and high school students.
