I am Dinkum Pulley.
Like my half-brother, POSH Shackles, I want to travel around the coast of England, Wales and Scotland, including the islands.
But I want to travel anti-clockwise. Later, I want to get back to the landlocked Midlands, but only after an exciting journey.
I’m not camera shy, so a photo will make my day.
Thanks for reading about me and for sending me on my way.
Dinkum (the tufnel) Pulley
I am dinkum in the sense that I’m a great little pulley from the 1960s.
I am made of a material called Tufnel which combined a fabric with a bonding adhesive to form a material that could be cut and shaped.
And I didn't corrode. Nor, did I need lubrication.
Also I looked pretty fetching when combined with brass.
Any well-mannered skipper would have been keen to have me onboard and be proud to show me off.
I predate nylon and stainless steel; and I was innovative.
Now, I am a thing of the past; but treasure my memories of being afloat.
If you look closely, you’ll see I have some splashes of varnish.
Now, I have an urge to smell the sea air again and hear the waves.
