To log this cache you will require a laptop with a wireless modem, a cell phone and a friend, or some real patience! At the coordinates you will find a large red colored rock to stand. Face face the camera, hold up your GPS and smile! (see photos) You may need to hold this position for a full minute or more to make sure the image is captured when the camera updates. (Yes, you may look silly!)
- Have your phone-a-friend go to www.bigwavedave.ca/webcams.htm and click on the image for Columbia Beach, Parksville BC.
- Right click and save the picture when you are visible with a big smile and your GPS held high.
- Log your visit on this cache page and upload the saved photo. Logs without pictures will be deleted!
- Note: Make sure you are visible in your photo and the photo size is no less than 640x480 - the default resolution on the webcam site.
Note:
This webcam site stores images in an archive for 24 hours so it is possible to complete this cache without needing to phone a friend. Just be sure to stand on the rock and strike your pose(s) for several minutes and note the time. When you return home you can access the archive (via the link to the camera page above) and select the best image!
