Geocache Description:

The South Bakony region is an area rich in unique natural values and in marvelous views. The landscape is characterized by a wide valleys and flat ridges, whose diversity is further increased by forests of turkey oak, pedunculate oak and beech.

Kislod is situated next to the main road nr 8 and accessible from Budapest on the M7 motorway, then on the main road nr 8 (distance: 138 km, 2 hours). Veszprém is 29 km far from the village. Kislod is accessible by train and bus. Direct rail and bus service operate from the capital.
Kislod still keeps the Kraut traditions. There is Kraut nationality kindergarten, primary school and choir.
Kislod is one of the oldest inhabited settlements in Hungary. The village was mentioned first time in 1336. Later it became a famous royal hunting area. After the Turks assult it became uninhabited and people started to settle down again in the 18th century. Now it has 1300 inhabitants.
He village is situated in a valley of North-Bakony, so its climate a bit colder than the continental.
