Pellérd is a village about 7 km southwest of Pécs.
The Neoclassical Castle in the center of the village was built by Kálmán Brázay(1839-1925), who was a very successful businessman at the end of the 19th century. He moved from Budapest to Pellérd after receiving the title of nobility and property in Pellérd from Emperor Franz Josef in 1906.
As customary, the castle was surrounded by a park with a collection of unique trees. The large oaks are particularly remarkable. The 14 acres that remained of it is currently the public park of the village. It includes a pond with a small island on it and a Romantic artificial cave, a fashionable addition to parks in Brázay's days. A pleasant stroll around the lake is fun for old and young.
