In the early 1930's, Charles Gustafson bought Dealtown Pond and renamed it Palatine Lake. He built a pavilion, providing a pleasant spot for picnickers. In the late 1940's, Bernard Wegner bought the land, adding cabins and boating. Vacationers enjoyed Palatine Lake for many decades. There was a boathouse on the lake and a store by the pavilion. Several charcoal grills dotted the beach where one could cook up his evening catch for "supper". By the mid 1980's, the summer playground gave way to the newly constructed Palatine Lake Village. The residents of which still enjoy fishing, boating, picnicking at the pavilion and much more this lovely location has to offer.
