A walk or cycle in to Culnaskiach Falls, a waterfall in Boblainy Forest. It is an impressive sight, with water flowing down a cliff into a narrow gorge, though can be tricky to find.
Parking is available at the end of the Ardendrain road, beside the forest gate.
From there, the recommended route is to follow the main forest track all of the way down to the bridge over the burn. At the corner before the burn a smaller track goes off on the left. Follow this until it runs out, then just head up alongside the small stream. The cache is in a small flat clearing, next to the stream, about 200m before you get to the waterfall, though the waterfall is still mostly hidden from view.
From the cache, you can continue to the waterfall. Though note this a steep sided gorge, and you may have to cross the stream or to scramble up the side a bit. So take care if doing this!
Note there is also a track that goes along to the top of the waterfall. Though this will take you to the top of a steep slope and cliffs, so approaching the cache from this direction is not recommended.
This cache has been placed on behalf of Boblainy Forest Group (BFG), a subgroup of Kiltarlity Community Council, who are working to encourage recreational use of the forest.
