My son and I, awhile ago, debated whether to use a softball or hard ball to play catch in the park one Summer day that sticks forever in my memory. He insisted on hard balls for his pitching practice. After we had fully warmed our arms up, we began zinging fastballs at each other at full speed. Ball after ball made a satisfying "THWACK!" in our gloves, until one devious high cutter went "BONK! SPLAT!" on an eyebrow. Sigh. Well, much fuss was made, and enough of a cut occurred that after 10 minutes in the park, we spent the next four hours in an ER, finally receiving stitches. The brow healed up nicely without a scar. And we still use hardballs, but more gently.
So while to the rest of the world it is the park at the Gerry Kulick Community Center (and a fine community center it is), for us it shall always be "Eyebrow Park," the name serving as a warning to us about too much fastball exuberance.
