"Rocky" Racoon maybe but... probably not.
This is an easy, kid-friendly stroll along the Brothers Path on Swan Lake in the Rockefeller State Park Preserve. The Brothers Path, one of the many Rockefeller carriage trails, makes an approximately 1 mile flat loop around the lake. I suggest paying the reasonable $6 fee to park (weekends year-round and weekdays April-October) at the Park Visitor's Center on Route 117 between Sleepy Hollow and Pleasantville.
I used to bring my boys here often when they were young and we always had a great time. We've seen deer here. We've seen frogs and fish. We've seen turkeys, great blue herons, pilated wood peckers, all sorts of different ducks, geese, and other birds. And turtles galore! (I have yet to see a racoon, though I'm sure they're around.) It's a great place to hike with the children but it's a great place for you big kids, too! Several carriage trails lead away from the lake in different directions and make any length of walkabout possible. Maps are available at the visitor's center. Dogs on leashes are welcome and there are a few other caches nearby too!
Enjoy!
