John o' Groats - Journey's End Signpost
This virtual cache will take you to one of the most Northerly points of mainland Britain, John o' Groats. This small coastal village is the starting point for many embarking on the 'End to End' journey to Land's End in England, 876 miles away.
The Highland village of John o' Groats combines dramatic, unspoilt scenery and fascinating wildlife, including a breathtaking array of birdlife on the local cliffs, as well as seals, dolphins and killer whales in the surrounding waters.
Walkers can follow the scenic coastal paths from John o’ Groats along the north coast, onto the massive rock stacks called the Stacks of Duncansby. Boat trips are available from the town to and around the wild cliffs of Duncansby Head and Orkney lies only 6 miles away, with day trips available to heritage sites of Skara Brae, the Churchill Barriers and the Standing Stones of Stenness.
We visited Lands End in 2017 after attending the Devon Mega, so a visit to John o' Groats was a must after the Aberdeen Mega in 2019 - and what a great way to celebrate the visit than placing my Virtual 2.0 reward here.
FYI - Dunnet's Head, 11 miles away, is actually the most northerly point of mainland Britain, however less famous.
To claim this virtual cache the following is required:
1: Go to the John o' Groats Journey's End Sign Post (as shown in the image above!)
2: Have an item with your caching name showing - this can be anything - a piece of paper, a coffee cup, a t-shirt, your hand...
3. If you cache in a group each log claim must have a photo - it can be the same group photo, but logs without photos will be deleted.
4. NO EMAIL/MEASSAGE PHOTOS ARE ACCEPTABLE - they must be attached to the log
5: Take a photo of the John o' Groats Journey's end sign with your caching name CLEARLY showing in the photo - this must be written on something, not added afterwards - please upload this to your log!
The photo must be taken AFTER the publication of the listing, you cannot add your caching name to an old photo - it must appear in the photo at the time of it being taken.
Note: Logs not showing a photo with your caching name will be deleted - logs will be checked regularly!
