Crosswinds Marsh Nature Fest 2022 Series
Nature Fest is a nature-oriented event that featured live entertainment, nature crafts, and games, face painting, and free canoeing. This cache is one of a series of 12 geocaches, launched the day after Nature Fest, with each one featuring one of the importance to the animal community of the oak trees found in Crosswinds Marsh Nature Preserve.
The Crosswinds Cache Crew developed this series in partnership with Ms. Brenna Van Schoick, Environmentalist at Crosswinds Marsh.
Oak Leaves
Leaves are not only important as a food source when they’re alive, but they’re also important as a ground cover once they have fallen for the year. The leaves of many species will disintegrate within a year, but oak leaves are known to stick around for up to three years. This provides much-needed ground cover to the critters that live on the forest floor by providing hiding spots and retaining moisture.
LOOK FOR THE CODE!
As an incentive to complete the series we are offering a commemorative collectible. Located on the inside of the cover is a four digit code. Keep a record of the code along with the cache name. To qualify for the collectible enter the codes into an on-line form found by clicking HERE. You will then be provided with instructions as to how to receive your collectible.
