Now that Spring is on the way, after what has been a terrible year of Covid, and "BORIS" now lets us all go walkies. Enjoy a great walk in the New Forest around Hatchet Pond. Put out by The Knightwood Oak some 12 years ago , as a way of saying "Merry Christmas" to all fellow Cachers, and a "Thank You" for the caches that you all have put out that I have found.
This Cache gives you a walk around Hatchet Pond near Beaulieu, from the Car Park and around to the far side of the pond towards the source. The Cache is a medium (2 Litre) clip top' container and is called "QUACKERS" . In early days this cache had toy ducks in, and idea was to bring and swap a toy duck, it worked well for a while too, but now just called "QUACKERS" as hopefully you see ducks on the pond. Travel Bugs and Coins are still WELCOME to Visit. Just a few words of warning. Looking at the 'OS' Map of the area, you may spot a car park just south of the cache hidden area. Please DO NOT park in this one and try and reach cache from here, very wet from here. So please PARK in the main car park and head westward around the pond. enjoy the view but take care with children near the water's edge, and after finding the cache PLEASE return the way you came and do NOT try and walk right around the Pond, maybe in summer you can but not during the wet winter. This Cache is on Forestry Commission land and has been placed in accordance with the GAGB Agreement. N.B. As part of this agreement, it is not permitted to seek the Cache during hours of darkness.
