Well, seeing as I work as a surveyor, it was gonna be hard to pass up the opportunity to go visit a monument that represented the corner of 3 different states, but also an astronomical observation point that was still intact, that sealed the deal. We are going a few miles out of the way.
See, the thing is that I know what an astronomical observation station is. A crew of men were sent out to mark the exact confluence of N36° 30.00 and W103° 00.00, since this was by treaty, where the state corners were supposed to be. These men used very accurate timepieces to determine the exact moment when a certain star or stars passed a certain point in the sky. They had their instrument trained on that exact spot in the sky, and used that to set the monument you see in the cow pasture.
Know what's really cool? A 2-fer BM find, and a virtual cache. A beautiful clear moonlit night and a motorcycle that is running like a new one. Oh! and also OK Delorme Challenge page 12! Yessssssss!!!!

By the time we got this far west, it was almost 10PM. We found the cache, signed the log, and went back to the car, where we decided this would be a good place to walk the dog. Good thing, because it gave us some cover for what was to happen next.
Just as we finished walking the dog, headlights (high beams) suddenly appeared at the east end of the road into the cemetery. It seriously startled me because I thought we were out here alone. Apparently whoever passed by us called the police, and he had snuck in the back entrance and had been watching us for a little while. I guess he only saw us walking the dog, since he just waited for us to leave. He followed us all the way back into town and around the courthouse before he went on about his business. I was careful not to give him any reason to stop us, although I kept expecting him to light us up anytime. I was glad that I didn't have the need to explain geocaching to a small town cop tonight.

I was looking for someone to go with me on a Delorme Challenge Run to North Central OK and the Panhandle. I had wanted to take the 'wing, but the weather put the kibosh on that idea. Barb and her 35mpg Toyota answered the call! We left OKC at about 6AM and covered ~850 miles, knocked out 13 pages of the Delorme Challenge, found caches in 14 new counties, and had a GREAT time! We saw a ton of places and things that we would never have seen if not for Geocaching.
Thanks for the quick P&G as we progressed westward across the Panhandle. Thanks even more for the interesting story from your past! I love it when history and geocaching cross paths. The cache was dry and in great shape on this rainy Saturday evening.

This was a very well done and clever cache. Cache was dry and in great shape, so the "needs maintenance" attribute does not apply here . There were no trackables in the cache. I enjoyed looking at some of the historical markers in this area. Thanks for a great cache!

After reading the description, we were expecting a rutted and muddy road with tree branches scraping the car. Actually, there are worse streets than this in OKC! This one wasn't a biggie. Spotted the string and found it very easily. According to my math, the western line of Delorme Page 16 is actually on top of the dam! Cool.
This lake (or lack thereof) amazed us. Looks like all the water evaporates that comes downstream into the lake. However, it sure was nice of the Corps of Engineers to give us such a great place to geocache! Thanks for the hide.
This looked like a great place for Boy Scouts to camp, so I left a Boy Scout geocoin here that had been burning a hole in my pocket. Thanks for the cache!

Nice place for a cache. I always enjoy finding these concrete ODOT right of way monuments. It looks like this one gets found a lot by accident, if the entries in the logbook are any indication. Thanks for a cool find!

Since this one has a longitude of 100 00.224, and the western edge of Delorme Square 18 is 100 00.750, I'm using this one for that page. I've seen this monument several times, and I enjoyed reading the history once again. Spotted the cache right away. Gotta love tha "plain sight" camo. Thanks for hiding this here.

AWESOME memorial! I especially loved the eagle. Holy cow, that's gorgeous! Found the cache with no problems. Great hint. Log was damp, but not too bad considering all the rain. Thanks for bringing us to the really nice looking little town!

This was quite a workout. First finding the cache, then carrying it back down the hill...looking for cache rescue supplies... then back up the hill again.
I found the cache broken and full of water. The baggie which contained the logbook had been chewed up by a critter. The log was between damp and wet, but salvageable.
I ended up getting a temporary container from the park headquarters. It is now in a glass jelly jar. Someone please bring an ammo can out this way, before the steel lid rusts to the jar. This is a good Delorme Challenge cache, I'd hate to see it lost. Logbook was dried out in the car, and put in a new baggie. Swag was cleaned up, and what could fit, was put in the jar.
Thanks for the hunt, and the Delorme Challenge Page!

This was a really cool little park. We had a Shihtzu puppy with us, and the fenced in park gave her a chance to bounce and play. The name of the cache had me wondering for a few, but when I spotted the place where it was hidden, it made perfect sense. Very clever. Cache was dry and in good shape.
You can tell that this was a happening place before the railroad left. Don't suppose the grain elevators do so much business anymore, with no trains to take the crop to market. Still a nice little town.

This one made me really put on my thinking cap. IF this had been listed as a micro, I'd have given up...but the fact that it was a small served to limit the places I had to look. Or so I thought. But persistence paid off, and finally I got to saw those two little words, "FOUND IT!"
The mini Coleman lantern was cool, but I had noting to trade that would fit in the cache, so I didn't take it. This was a really clever hide. Thanks for the hunt!

This was a really neat old truss bridge. From the looks of all the ODOT surveying going on in the area, I'd guess that there are plans to replace this little one-lane bridge. While we were looking around, some moron came through south to north doing about 70 mph. Good thing nobody was coming from the north!
You did a really good job hiding the cache. There were fresh survey points only 6 feet from the cache, yet the cache remained undisturbed.

Barb and I headed out this weekend to knock out the last few counties in Oklahoma, and to get some Delorme pages. This was a very enjoyable cache. I loved the location. My phone wasn't getting map data, so I wasn't sure at first what side of the lake it was on. Wouldn't you know, I chose the wrong side first! Once we realized the mistake, it was short work to get around to the other side and get to GZ. I spotted the cache right next to Barb's foot, and told her the cache was a snake. She found it quickly then. Nice container! Thanks for the fun.

Pooter2001, Geomonkee, and I were on our way back from Kansas City where we picked up a part I need for the trailer I'm building to tow behind the Goldwing. We need it to carry our camping gear on our Oregon trip next month.
We didn't even need the GPSr for this one, I've seen it thousands of times. You see, I was a truck driver for 12 years, and ran mostly from the midwest to Oklahoma. I can't tell you how many times I've slept here! Thanks for an easy smiley, all we had to do was stop and go potty!

I have a couple of caches hidden on the California Road further east in Oklahoma. One is in Red Rock Canyon and the other is on Lake Eufaula. Everyone knows that tranportation history is my thing. This is my first find in Dewey County.
The cache hide method was pretty ingenious. The cache was in good shape. Thanks for the hide! We've been caching for 20 hours straight, it's 2AM, and it's raining really hard. Time to go home.

Delorme Page 30!
Wow. I have not been here since my parents brought me when I was about 4. I didn't exactly remember this spring, but I have exactly seen it in my dreams for years. I had no idea that this was a place I had remembered from being a child, I thought all that water coming apparently from nowhere was a product of my own imagination! Way cool!
Even cooler! This makes my 150th find! A great cache in a great location for a neat milestone.
The cache apparently gets found a LOT by muggles, as the log entries were interesting, to say the least!
I have definitely found our next destination for a weekend in the 5th wheel camper!
Delorme Page 30!
Wow. I have not been here since my parents brought me when I was about 4. I didn't exactly remember this spring, but I have exactly seen it in my dreams for years.
