Geocache Description:

Grosvenor & Hilbert #3

Welcome to Tunbridge Wells’ oldest municipal park opened in 1889 on the site of the old Calverley Water Works.  In 1931 a farm was annexed to make the park you see today.  This cache is the third in a series to take you on a tour of the park which has benefitted from a Heritage Lottery Fund grant.   Suggested parking and access is Auckland Rd or Hilbert Road which are largely free of double yellow lines.  See  map below

The listed coordinates take you to the Bedgebury Pinetum interpretation board. To find the cache you need to collect some information here and from two more interpretation boards. The interpretation boards and the cache are accessible by wheelchair on paths or boardwalks as long as you can manage the slopes.

Bedgebury Pinetum - How many of the 31 conifers planted round the wetlands were donated by Bedgebury Pinetum? A (2 digits)

Wetland Wildlife - The wetland area used to be called the Lower Lakes. When were they filled in? BCDE

Swimming in History - Many of the larger trees round the dripping wells are over "F" years old. (3 digits)

The cache can be found at N51 08. (F x 3) +C + (A x A) E000 16. (F x 2) + A + B + E

The cache has been placed with the kind permission of the Friends of Grosvenor & Hilbert Park and Tunbridge Wells Borough Council.   More information about the park can be found on the Friends' website and Facebook Page
