Geocache Description:

Maibaum means Maypole in German!

A German “Maibaum” (Maypole) tells the history of a town through the vignettes you see from bottom to top. Fredericksburg’s maypole is in Pioneer Park and is a fun and unique way to learn about the town. One of the tales it tells is how the people of Fredericksburg have the distinction of being party to the ONLY treaty with an Indian tribe that was never broken. Can you see it there at the bottom?

On the VERY TOP of the maypole, you’ll see two iconic symbols of the area. Identify the correct two symbols, and you’ll find the cache.

A Sunday House and Cross Mountain - N30 16.570 W98 52.288

Cross Mountain and Vereins-Kirche - N30 16.607 W098 52.224

Enchanted Rock and a Sunday House - N30 15.992 W98 52.495

The cache is a decon container hidden nearby. If you can’t tell what those scenes are at the top of the maypole, just ask a local and they will be happy to help you!
