wooded trench
There is a vast undeveloped area that has trails, slag piles, a creek, and several swampy wetlands. The area was mined for coal. A long and deep ditch or trench was excavated to scoop up the coal (you can see the trench in the satellite photo on Google Maps). This cache is a good starting point.
Cache is a ceramic container. It is sheltered from the elements by a natural formation.
The best access point is Butya's Ball Field, in Robinson Township. The field is accessible by taking Moon Run Road off Route 60, right at Butya's Lounge and Restaurant. There is a blue sign for the field.
After finding the cache, take a hike downhill towards the creek below, and up the three slag piles north-east from the cache. There is a great view from the top of the slag piles.
