Geocache Description:

**** COORDINATE CHANGE!! ****

Due to the cache disappearing twice (so far), we have relocated version 3 to the opposite side of the road. Still easy to find but a lot less likely to be discovered by bored teen-agers throwing rocks.

A park-and-grab ammo can placed near an historic covered bridge in memory of a cacher who grew up in this area.

ABOUT THE CACHER: BowTie was a cacher from Mooresville who grew up in this area. He and his friends would spend time in the summers running around the countryside west of town, hanging out by Big Walnut and generally enjoying life. As he grew older, BowTie (whose real name was Rick) became something of a country boy. He drove Camaros and 4-wheel-drive trucks. He wore big cowboy hats. He had a Skoal ring on his pants pocket. He listened to Charlie Daniels and Hank Junior. He liked football and NASCAR and Saturday morning cartoons. He married a woman to whom he was extremely dedicated and loved his family very much. Rick was very patriotic and was proud of his son, who was a Rescue Swimmer in the Navy, as well as his nephew, who is a career Soldier.

ABOUT THE CACHE: It was only in the last year of his life that Rick became reacquainted with his older sister. She introduced him to geocaching, and even through his failing health they spent time together seeking caches and getting to know each other. This cache is being placed in Rick's memory by members of his family as a cache we think he would have enjoyed finding.

ABOUT THE SITE: This cache was placed near Oakalla Bridge over the Big Walnut river. This is one of many covered bridges in Putnam County. It was built in the 1890s, and is still in use today. Please respect the history and beauty of the area. Any CITO performed will also be greatly appreciated.

ABOUT THE SWAG: The original contents of the cache were placed as items that BowTie would have enjoyed finding - things he liked in life. Much of the original content was donated by a few great cachers. Very special thanks go to Torry from Indianapolis for placing a T-shirt from the 30th annual 3-hour figure-8 endurance race, a Ward Burton NASCAR shirt, an OCC hat, and a set of collapsible race binoculars. Corps of Discovery donated three "instant caches", ready made to hide. UperDooper contributed a miniature Cincinnati Bengals helmet. Rick's nephew who is a career Army officer, Elemental Jay, placed several patches from his desert uniforms worn in Iraq, a military challenge coin, and his own signature cow skull.
