I've always liked words more than numbers, and consequently I'm
better with them. These puzzles are my attempt at creating a puzzle
cache that relies primarily on word skills. You will need to solve
ten anagram word problems that involve word transformation. Each
problem will offer two clues, and the solution will consist of two
words that share all but one letter. Here's an example:
- The first word is America's Favorite Pastime. Remove one of the
letters and rearrange the remaining letters, and the resulting
second word means marketable.
The two word solution is BASEBALL / SALABLE, and the
letter that has been removed to form the second word is the letter
B.
In each of the following ten problems, first determine the two
word solution by carefully considering both of the clues. Next,
make note of the letter that is removed from the first word to form
the second. This 10 letter sequence can then be entered (in all
caps) as the password to access the actual cache coordinates from
this pdf file.
If you need an application for viewing pdf files, Adobe Reader is a
free
download.
- The first word means to smile in a silly or disingenuous way.
Remove one of the letters and rearrange the remaining letters, and
the resulting second word is a faceted glass object.
- The first word can be a devastating natural disaster. Remove
one of the letters and rearrange the remaining letters, and the
resulting second word is a psychiatric disorder.
- The first word refers to a return of part of a payment. Remove
one of the letters and rearrange the remaining letters, and the
resulting second word is a type of hat.
- The first word is an impulsive change of mind. Remove one of
the letters and rearrange the remaining letters, and the resulting
second word is a popular emetic.
- The first word is a musical reed instrument. Remove one of the
letters and rearrange the remaining letters, and the resulting
second word is a masculine administrative leader.
- The first word is a soldier's virtue. Remove one of the letters
and rearrange the remaining letters, and the resulting second word
is a large cat.
- The first word is the famous son of a certain sea-nymph. Remove
one of the letters and rearrange the remaining letters, and the
resulting second word is a light varnish.
- The first word would be a poor choice for a child's aquarium
pet. Remove one of the letters and rearrange the remaining letters,
and the resulting second word means untouchable.
- The first word is a foolish mistake. Remove one of the letters
and rearrange the remaining letters, and the resulting second word
is a heavy load.
- The first word is a musical wind instrument. Remove one of the
letters and rearrange the remaining letters, and the resulting
second word is a kind of golf club.

you haven't solved it already, you might want to check out the
