northernpenguin: I don't have family in this part of town anymore, so I'm going to archive this one and open the spot up for a different local cacher

Geocache Description:

A quick cache, with a great view of the Pickering Nuclear plant.

NOTE: Cache is rather small, and did not accomodate a writing instrument. You should bring something to write with. Cache will handle small items (like geocoins)

---

There are two ways to access the trail system. The cache is located in a brand new park located at the end of Port Union Road.

There is a pedestrian tunnel under the railway tracks. Please use the tunnel at N43 46.545/W 079 08.093. Crossing the very active, very high speed railway line elsewhere is just a plain stupid thing to do.

Near the tunnel, you'll find a wonderful trail system, with a 'lookout' hill with a great view of the city, and of the nearby Pickering Nuclear Generating Station.

This cache was placed while I was on a walk with Kitten on the Hunt's family.

The trail extends out beyond the Rouge Hill GO Station (which has a geocache in it) There is parking at that end of the trail, but there is a gate blocking the trail entrance. It would appear there may still be construction at that end of the trail, so access the path from the tunnel.

The path itself is paved, and would be great for rollerblading, or riding your bike here. Wheelchairs should be able to get fairly close to the cache, but may need assistance for the last few meters.
