This is a large metal box on an island in Birch Lake. It should
be fairly easy to find, but getting to it will be the challenge.
There is a nice view of the island from the Petro Canada station
across the highway.
On the way home from a recent camping trip we stopped for A
CAMPING WE WILL GO and decided the next time we went camping
we'd check out Innisfree Recreation Park. We're glad we did because
this is a nice campground. It is reasonably priced, some sites are
powered and there are showers at no additional cost.
The best place to start from is at the day use area.
Do not access at the No Parking sign on
Hwy 870. From the park, follow the
lake shore south until you're lined up with the quad tracks
going up the hill on the island. If the water's low enough
you can walk across on dry ground. Other times you may have
to wade across to the island or take a boat. If there is
water, it should be shallow enough to wade if you're in the
right spot. Of course, the water may be too cold to wade, so
use discretion.
You can follow quad tracks most of the way to the cache. Be sure
and take your camera. There are some spectacular views along the
way.
Original contents are a mixture of the the usual swag plus a
RadioShack weather radio as a first to find prize.
Happy hunting.
