Geocache Description:

This is in a fairly populated area so be aware. The container is an ammo box with a few TB's and various other items.

This Hotel is located in an easy to reach area to allow Travel Bugs a place to stay while in transit. There are plenty of parking spots around but if you come during business hours good luck finding one available. Savannah and the surrounding area is full of history. Richmond Hill definitely has it's own share of history.

This particular cache is hidden near a building that is presently owned by Reynolds Insurance. It is a wooden structure and was in the center of the Richmond Hill Plantation business district. Ira Wombie, the business owner, operated a retail bakery and ice-cream shop here. It was a popular gathering place for the community children after school.

Henry Ford bought an industrial mixer for Mr Womble because he and Clara Ford liked Mr Wamble's cakes. The mixer is on display at the Richmond Hill Historical Society Museum. I strongly encourage you to visit the museum and while you are there you can also find Mister Ford's Kindergarten by Johann Panholtz (GCWB2Q).

The historical information found on this page can be found in a book called "A visitor's guide to historical sites in the Richmond Hill Area" that can be purchased at the Richmond Hill Historical Society Museum. The book contains similar information on several other historical sites that we have found interesting to visit.
