INDIANA GHOST TOWN QUEST
The Indiana Ghost Town Quest series of geocaches will take you to towns of yester-year that no longer exist or are near extinction. Inspired by the Indiana Spirit Quest cemetery series, this series will take you to remnant sites as well as vacant sites where towns once existed, hopefully exposing a part of our historic past to the visitor.
These towns were once important centers of trade but due to various reasons now are gone. These reasons can include changes in local industry, changes in trade routes, or even changes in transportation. This can be as simple as railroads replacing canals and interstates replacing local highways.

ROCK CREEK HIGH SCHOOL
INDIANA GHOST TOWN QUEST #7:
"ROCK CREEK CENTER"
Rock Creek Center is a Class D GHOST TOWN in Rock Creek Township, Huntington County, Indiana.
This little village was located at the intersection of County roads 300E and 300S.
The 1866 map of the county shows about 10 buildings on the site. At one time there was a post office, shoe shop (shoemaker), Blacksmith, School #5,and a tannery, Tile Mill, and Hardin's General Store that we know of.
The brick Rock Creek Township School (K-12) was built in 1916. It was home to the Rock Creek Flying Aces athletic teams. School colors were black and white. In the fall of 1952, the school bus barn caught fire. Four students carried a 1930 Ford out of the burning building and drove all four buses out. The barn was totally destroyed.
The cache containerwas a plastic peanut jar, now an RSx bottle and is located on the site of the now vanished school, west of town.
Today, all that remains are a few modern residences and a groundhog hole..
