Located near the banks of the Magalloway River, the two-room
Magalloway Schoolhouse stands vacant at the intersection of Route
16 and Sturtevant Pond Road. Although thought to be more than a
hundred years old, it is unknown exactly when the school was built
as early town records were destroyed in a fire. Between 1966 and
1989, Wilsons Mills and Magalloway Plantation combined their
Kindergarten through 8th grade students and alternated between
schools each year as the number of school aged children was rarely
more than a handful. Then finally in 1989, at the conclusion of a
year with only 5 students in attendance, the school closed
permanently.
The cache is a camouflaged kid's lunch box and contains various
school oriented trade items. Like the Little Pink Church cache,
located less than a half mile away, this is a three season cache as
it will not be possible to access once winter sets in.
Please note: The cache is hidden outside the
building.
Enjoy the hunt!!!
