Southampton City Walls Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Easy Rambler: This cache has required a lot of repair and maintenance, I find I cannot attend to it as frequently as I would like and so have to archive it.

Geocache Description:

These coordinates are for a convenient Car Park. A Multi/offset cache with a walk along Southampton City’s Western Walls from The Wool House (N 50° 53.845 W 001° 24.371) to The Bargate (N 50° 54.165 W 001° 24.259). The route is paved throughout and suitable for Wheelchairs.

This cache is intended to take you along Southampton City’s Western Walls and show you a part of the city that is too often overlooked. Although the answers to many of the questions can be found by ‘Surfing’ the Web, dates and facts vary and the ones you need are the ones printed on the various information boards around the city walls!
The walk is well sign-posted and accessible at both higher and lower levels on foot and by wheelchair. If you can't find an answer where you expect, you might be looking at the wrong level!
Please Note: It is required by Southampton City Council that all activities adhere to the guidelines set out by Hampshire County Council regarding Geo-caching.
A good place to see cruise liners in the docks and the easiest place to start is at the car park in the Mayflower Park at N 50° 53.840 W 001° 24.396. The Car Park is closed overnight and also for the Boat Show which generally falls on the last two weeks of September. There is a small charge and a limit of 2 hours, but this can be renewed indefinitely if you think it is really going to take you that long!
The Walk starts near the Wool House N 50° 53.845 W 001° 24.371 where there is an interesting Maritime Museum, travels West & North, finishing at the Bargate N 50° 54.165 W 001° 24.259 The clues are roughly in order to minimise walking, but you may wish to look for G & H in reverse order if following the wheelchair route.
All clues can be solved and the cache located without leaving the footpaths.
This is a Regular cache and its location is obvious as there are few places that it can be hidden. Please respect the task of the little magnet and don't put anything too heavy in the cache! It is a very open public place so please use subterfuge and exercise discretion when retrieving and returning the cache which can be found at this location ......
